ABOUT OUR FAMILY
We have been AKC inspected and Approved
"Happiness comes when you believe in what you are doing, and LOVE what you are doing"
Hello All..Before we decided to raise and be owned by our pugs we put many long years into rescuing pound dogs that nobody wanted and would have been put to sleep...After our last one past away at the ripe old age of 17, I decided to fulfill a life long dream of owning and raising quality pugs with my family...and the rest is history.
Because of our back round in housing and loving so many rescue dogs,we DO NOT take breeding of any sort lightly, and will forever be involved with the rescue efforts of any and all pugs in need.
Here at Funny Farm Pugs we raise and breed quality AKC pugs ~and ONLY Pugs. Our pugs are raised in a clean ,loving,& healthy environment as part of our family.Yes we do have kennels that are indoor/outdoor,heated and air conditioned.
Breeding pugs is something we have all enjoyed as a family for well over a decade, and we will continue as long as we derive enjoyment from it and feel like we are making a difference in preserving what we value in this wonderful breed.
We firmly believe that each puppy that we bring into the world represents us as people & breeders, and as such we work hard to put the very best into our pugs,& our choice of pugs included in our breeding program.
Our ultimate goal is to improve upon the breed with each and every breeding that takes place at our farm.
Not breeding to supply the over saturated pet market, but for ourselves first and for the preservation of a HEALTHY breed in ALL colors..NOT allowing indiscriminate or novice breeders to have the lines we have worked so hard to maintain.
We ONLY allow breeding rights to those who are a part of the
Pugs of Color Club, and have taken an oath to adhere and follow a code of ethics, and road map to improving what we started many years ago.
Because pugs are what they eat, we feed the very best in nutrition~foods that are additive free, preservative free,& containing absolutely no animal by products are the only options for our pug kids,so that they will live the healthiest ,longest life possible.
When a female conceives her puppies those pups are what she was being fed at the time of conception,so next time you inquire about a puppy from any breeder ask what they feed their dogs as it most certainly does matter to the present and future health of that puppy. Most mainstream dog foods contain first ~animal by products, corn fillers (major skin allergy contributor.)These foods may be cheaper to feed but will cost you more in the future by the declining health of your pug.
We feed Merrick, and Sold Gold which is all sold at Mud Bay pet stores.. or can be found online. These foods have excellent holistic properties and contains high quality ingredients such as several different proteins(Turkey,Herring,Lamb,& Chicken,)as well as whole brown rice, oatmeal, flax seed, chicory root ,garlic,& salmon oil, an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids, and many other high quality highly absorb able,& digestible ingredients.
We truly love what we do and we are happy to hear from others that it shows in the quality pugs that are coming from our lines.
Breeding with integrity is one of our TOP priorities here on Funny Farm .
We are not just breeding pugs~we are breeding pugs of health, substance, and quality.
We have chosen not to remove the dew claws from our pugs as it is painful for the puppy and in our opinion completely unnecessary. Now if this were a long haired breed I would feel differently about this issue.
We have also chosen not to ship our pups in cargo, however if you live out of state and are seriously considering our pups for adoption we would be happy to meet you at our airport which is Seattle/Tacoma or Sea/Tac so that the puppy can fly home with you as a carry on.In our opinion shipping a young puppy can be traumatic,& frightening to the puppy and to us as breeders,& pug lovers & may compromise the health & welfare of the pup.
